BREAKING: Private Aircraft Skid-off Runway In Oyo, Tinubu’s Minister, Other Dignitaries Onboard
A privately owned aircraft has been reported to have skidded off track at the Ibadan Airport in the Alakia area of Oyo State’s capital, leaving several persons onboard including the Minister of Power,¹ Mr Adebayo Adelabu, narrowly escaping death.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (Https://bigpenngr.com) reports that the aircraft operated by Flint Aero which departed Abuja for Ibadan, crashed short of the runway on Friday evening.
No fewer that ten passengers were onboard the aircraft.
Industry sources said no fatalities was recorded as all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated but the aircraft was badly damage.
According to Nigerian Tribune report, the incident, which occurred during the aircraft’s landing, led to the plane veering off its intended path and into the nearby bush. “Fortunately, no lives were lost, and no property damage was reported”, sources said.
“Emergency response teams, including personnel from the State Fire Service, Federal Fire Services, and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, swiftly and effectively managed the situation.
“The aircraft’s departure was from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. While specific details surrounding the mishap remain undisclosed, Yemi Adeyimika, the General Manager of the State Fire Service, confirmed the incident, highlighting that prompt intervention from multiple fire service teams effectively controlled the situation”.
