Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State

There seems to be crack in the cabinet of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara following the resignation of about six commissioners from the state Executive Council.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpennge.com) reports that the commissioners believed to have been nominated for appointment by former governor, Nyesome Wike, dumped the Governor’s camp following the seething cold war between Wike and his successor.

According to report in PUNCH, the state Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma, and the Commissioner for Works, George-Kelly Alabo, are the latest among those who resigned in 24 hours.

Chinwenwo-Aguma cited “personal and other personal commitments,” while Alabo said his resignation is anchored on his “conscience” as seen in the press releases obtained by PUNCH Online.

This is coming after the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, and the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke, resigned from Fubara’s cabinet.

BIGPEN NIGERIA understands that among those who resigned from the government as commissioners and other political appointees are; Chief Emeka Woke, Prof. Zacchaeus Adaongor, Dr. Dax Kelly George Alabo, Dr Jacob Nbin, Engr. Charles Amadi, Barr. (Mrs) Inime Aguma, Hon. Nwafor Uchechuku, Isaac Kamalu, Chima Aguma and Marshal Obuzor.

The newspaper reports that the crisis rocking the state took a new twist when 27 lawmakers loyal to a former governor of the state, Nyesome Wike, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Lawmakers loyal to the state governor therefore declared their seats vacant while calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct fresh elections to replace them.

The state government also on Wednesday demolished the House of Assembly complex, claiming it is no longer safe for legislative business.
