…Appeal Court judgement declaring me Governor a vindication of the truth — Nasiru

Sacked Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has described the Appeal Court ruling as a temporary setback for his administration under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Governor Yusuf who stated this Friday night, said that after careful study and rigorous stakeholders’ engagement, he and his party, have decided to approach the Supreme Court on the judgement of the Court of Appeal delivered on Friday in Abuja.

In a special broadcast made to the good people of Kano in reaction to the Appeal Court judgement, Governor Yusuf described as a miscarriage of justice the judgment which upheld his sack.

He said: “I want to inform the good people of Kano and indeed well-meaning Nigerians that based on the consensus of our stakeholders, we have instructed our lawyers to commence the process of appealing this judgement at the Supreme Court of Nigeria. We are optimistic that the Supreme Court will by the grace of Allahu SWT set a side these miscarriages of justice by the Tribunal and the Appeal Courts, and reaffirm our mandate given by the good people of Kano State.”

He used the opportunity to call on people of the state to continue to go about their legitimate businesses as government has taken all necessary measures to ensure the security of their lives and property in the state as a cardinal responsibility.

Abba Kabir assured that the temporary setback will not deter his administration from its commitment to continue with laudable projects and programmes targeted at restoring the lost glory of the state. According to the governor, instead, he will roll-out more initiatives to deliver dividends of democracy to citizens and residents of Kano State.

He called on citizens of the state and other well-meaning Nigerians to continue to pray to Kano for Allah’s mercy and protection to save the state from the injustice of mischief makers who are desperately scheming to hijack power through the back door and return the state to the dark ages.

In the meantime, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Nasiru Gwanna Yusuf, has described the judgement of the Appeal Court as a vindication of the truth.

In a statement, Nasiru, who has been adjudged the winner of the polls by the election petition tribunal and the Appeal Court, stressed that, “The affirmation of the truth by the appeal court will surely strengthen the democracy.”

He gave praises to Allah for his victory and commended the courts for ensuring that justice prevailed.

“Both the judgments have reaffirmed that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man” he stated.

“This is a victory for all the residents and citizens of the State, therefore I am seeking for the support of everyone irrespective of party affiliation to join hands with me and my running-mate Murtala Sule Garo in the advancement of Kano,” he stated.
