‘Why I Said I Can’t Thank God That You Escaped Assassinations’ — Catholic Priest

kRev. Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, a Catholic missionary priest, has voiced his displeasure with Apostle Johnson Suleman, Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) International, regarding his testimony regarding the attempt on his life.

He said he could not be thankful to God for the apostle for escaping unhurt because he was insensitive to those who lost their lives in the incident.

Recall that gunmen on Friday attacked the convoy of the cleric on Warake road in Auchi, Edo State, killing over five people, including policemen and civilians.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Fr Kelvin said, “Apostle Suleman, in his statement, did not care much about the other persons who died because the gunmen tried to assassinate him.”

He wrote, “I have always said it here, when giving testimony, be sensitive. Don’t use other people’s misfortune to elevate your own story.

“In their bid to assassinate you, seven people were killed and you are like, “my life is in the hands of God, nobody can kill me.”

“Well, I will not thank God that you survived the assassination, I will rather thank God that you admitted to knowing those that were behind the assassination and shooting.

“I call on the police and the government to take it up from there.” The lives of those seven people matter so much. The minister’s life is not more valuable than theirs. A full investigation should be opened immediately until those responsible for the shooting are arrested and given what they deserve by law.

“And for those working closely with the minister, I will advise you to take necessary precautions because it seems he knows something that is capable of putting you at risk, which you may not be aware of.”
