Atiku’s Presidential Rally In Edo Boycotted By Wike, Other Gov Senior PDP Figures

At the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar’s campaign rally yesterday in Benin City, members of the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Legacy Group, a faction loyal to the party’s National Vice Chairman, Sout

Barr Nyesome Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and his counterparts from Oyo, Benue, Abia, and Enugu also conspicuously skipped the rally. It was a repetition of their choice to skip the party rallies in Uyo and Kaduna.

 According to local political analysts, the development may have an impact on the party’s chances in the general elections.

 There are several notable PDP legacy members who did not attend the PDP Presidential Rally at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, including Chief Dan Orbih, Edo State PDP Vice Chairman, Barr Henry Omagbon, a member of the House of Representatives who represents the Oredo Federal Constituency, Engr Ogbeide-Ihama, Mr. Pascal Ugbome, Barr Lucy Omagbon, Engr Mike Onolemenmen, Larry Okunbor, and Ogieva

According to The News Express, the group also missed the inauguration of the Edo state Campaign Council on Friday, October 20, 2022, where Governor Godwin Obaseki, who serves as the chairman of the council, declared that the state would be prepared to support the PDP in the general elections of 2023.

Obaseki has announced the suspension of governance in Edo in order to deliver a victory for the PDP.

Following the threat made by some people to interfere with party activities, security was increased inside and outside the stadium.

“The attention of the Edo State Government has been drawn to the plot by a group of unscrupulous individuals planning to disrupt the Peoples Democratic Party presidential campaign rally, scheduled to be held in the state tomorrow, Saturday, October 22, 2022,” said Osarodion Ogie, Esq., in a statement on Friday.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, promised to fulfill his promises to Nigerians if elected into office, promising to give security and economy priority.
