Chinese National Detained After Murdering His Ex-girlfriend In Nigeria

Geng Quarnung, a 47-year-old Chinese national living in Kano State, has admitted to killing his former Nigerian lover Ummukulsum Buhari and said he did it because she broke her engagement to marry him.
The tragic incident was confirmed to reporters by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesman for the Kano State Police Command.
He also stated that the case had been forwarded to the state’s Bompai Police headquarters.
The mother of the deceased reportedly informed the police about the incident, and the victim’s death was quickly confirmed after the assault, according to the police.
According to sources, the suspect reportedly climbed the fence of the deceased’s home at Kabuga Quarters in the state’s Gwale Local Government Area on Friday night and repeatedly stabbed her before help arrived.
The deceased, a Ugandan university graduate who was serving in Sokoto State as a member of the National Youth Service Corps, reportedly dated the suspect before splitting up with him to get married to another man.
The deceased was buried early on Saturday morning in Kano city, according to a report in Saturday Sun, while news of her murder continued to spark outrage in the state capital.
