Jumia Disowns Fake Recruitment Circulating On Social Media

Jumia, a popular Nigerian online retail shopping website, has disowned a social media message purporting that it currently recruiting part-time job seekers.

Jumia, in an e-signed statement made available to www.bigpenngr.com, denied putting up a recruitment advert, saying that the information circulating on WhatsApp was fake.

The statement reads, “Our attention has been drawn to a message being circulated specifically via WhatsApp, of a ‘hiring manager at Jumia’, inviting people to apply for part-time employment at Jumia.

“We wish to state that this information is entirely false and misleading and should therefore be ignored by the public. We denounce our association from this message and any further messages which may be dispersed to the public of a similar nature.

“At Jumia, we remain committed to transparency in the conduct of all our activities, including recruitment, and all communication or updates regarding this is disseminated through our official online platforms and verified social media pages”.
