National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Iyorchia Ayu, on Tuesday, says the party was yet to take it final decision on the running mate to the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

www.bigpenngr.com reports that Ayu stated this before the caucus of the party went into a closed door session this night.

The chairman said, “The candidate (Atiku) wrote to us as the administrative arm of the party on the choice of his running mate.”

Ayu stressed that, “our presidential candidate this time has decided to carry everybody along unlike 2019 when he didn’t consult widely in his choice of running mate.”

The party’s national chairman, however, urged the meeting to come up with a conclusion “between tomorrow and Friday.”

According to Daily Trust, the caucus meeting being held at the party headquarters in Abuja, is expected to come up with an acceptable running mate to the party’s presidential candidate.

The caucus is expected to consider the report of the General Aliyu Gusau (retd) and choose from among those penciled down for the job.

Daily Trust gathered that three South South governors, Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), were recommended by the committee.

Those at the meeting which is being chaired by the Deputy National North Ambassador Umaru Damagun are Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi).

Others are former governors Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Liyel Imoke (Cross Rivers) Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo) and the minority leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu.

www.bigpenngr.com had reported that barring any last minute circumstances, Governor Okowa is likely to clinch the vice president slot but unconfirmed report appears as if the pendulum have swung the way of Governor Wike who came second to Atiku at the presidential primary.
