Police Confirms Abduction Of DELSU Professor, 2 Others As Gunmen Demand N50m Ransom

The Police Command in Delta State has confirmed the abduction of the head of the music department of the Delta State University, Abraka, Prof. Ovaborhene Idamoyibo.

BIGPENNGR.COM reports that Idamoyibo was abducted alongside two others who were with him in his Toyota Highlander jeep at Eku junction in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

The lecturer and others were taken to unknown destination after the hoodlums chased and shot the tyres of his car to a halt within Abraka community.

It was learnt that the lecturer was trying to escape into Abraka town from the venue of a family meeting when the hoodlums who were on their trail shot the tyres of his car to a halt.

It was learnt that after firing the vehicle to a sudden stop, the hoodlums moved in and seized the occupants whom they took away through the Sapele/Eku road.

It was gathered that the armed men later contacted the wife of the lecturer, demanding a fifty million naira ransom to release her husband.
Local sources disclosed that the suspected kidnappers threatened Mrs. Rosemary Idamoyibo, wife of the lecturer to make the N50million ransom available latest Friday this week for the victim to be kept alive.
The lecturer and two others were captured on Saturday night, April 9.
When contacted, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, on Wednesday, confirmed the incident but declined further details.
