It seems the newly signed Electoral Amended Act would be facing another round of legislative mending as the senate on Tuesday announced President Muhammadu Buhari letter seeking to amend the newly-signed Electoral Act 2022.

BIGPENNGR reports that the letter addressed to the president of the senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, was read at the plenary.

Buhari, in the letter is asking the federal parliament to consider the outright deletion of Section 84 (12) of the newly signed Electoral Amended Act.

The section has to do with the resignation of political appointees before party primaries.

The president stated that the provision amounted to the disenfranchisement of political appointees.
