How Heavily Armed Robbers Attacked UBA Bullion Van In Delta

Heavily armed gunmen suspected to be armed robbers, on Thursday, attacked a bullion van reportedly conveying cash in Otor-Owhe, Isoko North Local Government Area.
BIGPENNGR understands the heavily armed men allegedly looted the bullion van belonging to United Bank of Africa, UBA.
The robbers were said to have waylaid the van along Otor-Owhe on the Ughelli-Asaba dual carriageway where it was reportedly looted.
Witness said the gunmen shot sporadically at the bullion van as the bullets bore holes on the windscreen of the vehicle conveying cash.
A police officer and the driver of the van were injured in the ensuing gun battle while undisclosed number of hoodlums was based injured.
Delta State Police Command spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, said there was no money in the bullion van when it was attacked.
According to him, “On 27/01/2022 at about 1045hrs, Policemen on UBA Special Escort from Warri to Asaba were ambushed by heavily armed hoodlums numbering about ten in two Seinna Vehicles along Ughelli/Ozoro Expressway, Otor-Owhe while they were on their way to transport cash from Asaba to Warri.
“In the ensued gun duel, one Policeman and the driver of the bullion van were injured.
“However, no live was lost but some of the hoodlums were fatally injured and were taken away by their gang members while the Bullion Van was recovered and taken to the Police station.
“Further development will be communicated.
“Meanwhile, the incident is currently being investigated while manhunt for the hoodlums is ongoing”, he added.
