El-Zakzaky, Wife Flee Kaduna After Court Ordered Their Release From Detention

Embattled leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife Zinatu, have reportedly fled Kaduna State immediately they were released from detention as ordered by a Kaduna State High Court on Wednesday.
BIGPENNGR understands that the whereabouts of El-Zakzaky and his wife have remained unknown to the public but one of their lawyer, Femi Falana confirmed their release from detention last night.
El-Zakzaky and his wife were released from Kaduna Correctional Centre pursuant to the order of court mandating their immediate release.
Justice Gideon Kurada of Kaduna High Court had in a ruling that lasted over eight hours, on Wednesday, upheld the no-case submission filed by El-Zakzaky and his wife.
The couple have been standing trial in the court for the past four years on an eight-count charge of culpable homicide, disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly among others levelled against them by the Kaduna State Government.
The government accused them of being responsible for the death of a soldier when soldiers massacred over 300 protesting Shiites in December 2015.
