The names of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, a factional candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and that of Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, the candidate for the People’s Democratic Party in the state were conspicuously missing in the list of candidates for the November 6 governorship election for Anambra State, published Friday.

BIGPENNGR understands that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, published the names without Ozigbo and Soludo’s names.

The electoral umpire however, cleared the candidate of APGA’s other faction, Chukwuma Micheal Umeoji, as the party’s candidate for the election.

Besides Soludo, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, the candidate for the People’s Democratic Party in the state didn’t make it in the list published by INEC.

INEC named Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah as the candidate of the YPP, while it presented Dr Emmanuel Andy Nnamdi Uba as that of the All Progressives Congress.

Commending on the list, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said in a statement that the commission met on Thursday considered the list/personal particulars of candidates nominated by the various political parties for the Anambra State governorship election scheduled to hold on November 6.

“The Commission also considered and took cognizance of the judgments/court orders served on it in relation to the primaries of the political parties and other processes leading to the election,” he said.

“In line with Section 31(3) of the Electoral Act, 2010(as amended) the personal particulars of the candidates will be published in the commission’s notice board in Awka, Anambra State.

“The names of the candidates, their gender, party, age, qualification and the Commission’s decision/remarks are herein attached.

“The Commission will continue to act in consonance with the Constitution and the law and will continue to obey the judgments and orders of courts served on it”.

APGA split into two factions in Anambra shortly before the primary election for the election of the party’s flagbearer in the November polls. In the end, Soludo emerged winner of the APGA faction loyal to Governor Willie Obiano, which also has Chief Victor Oye as its chairman.
