Hon Abiodun Oni, the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Mineral Development Agency, has reacted to a viral video circulating in the social media of a purported illegal gold mining field in Ibadan.

Oni, in a statement on Friday said that the visual will be subjected to proper scrutiny to ascertain its authenticity.

The Governor’s aide emphasized that the information contained in the video, whose source is not ascertained, will be investigated thoroughly.

The video had shown a particular location where the illegal mining was ongoing that the Fulani were the ones behind the activities until they were allegedly sent packing by indigenes of the area.

Oni said the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, which is determined to improving the economy of the state, would not fold its arms and allow unscrupulous elements
derail his determination of taking the state out of poverty to prosperity.

He added that the peace and security being enjoyed by citizens and residents of the state would not be allowed to be jeopardized by those hellbent on creating a chaotic atmosphere in the state.

Oni, however, called on anyone with useful information on the alleged illegal mining to come up with verifiable and incontrovertible information on the activities and should endeavour to call or send text messages to the following cell numbers: 08035792892, 08056406082.
