ASSP Holds 2021 Professional Development Conference In Lagos

All is now set for American Society of Safety Professionals, (ASSP) Nigeria chapter’s Annual Professional Development Conference slated to hold at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja – Lagos.

ASSP,  a global organization that is mainly involved in the advocacy for workplace safety, in a statement said the conference will hold from Thursday 18th – Friday 19th March, 2021 with the Theme: “Public Safety, Making A Difference Through Awareness, Intervention and Compliance”.

Professional Development Conference of the ASSP is an annual event where safety processionals, experts and safety industries across the globe interface in the presentation of technical papers, presentation of awards to distinguished professionals, exhibition of safety products and networking with safety professionals in governments and corporate bodies.

The statement said the 2021 2-day would be chair by Mele Kolo Kyari, the Group Managing Director of NNPC and Tony Attah, the MD/CEO of NLNG.

Keynote Speakers shall include the Society’s Global President Deborah Rot CSP, Dr. Richard Olawoyin CSP – both from the United States of America, Naseem Subhani CSP, from Pakistan and Professor Rim-Rukeh – VC, FUPPRE, Warri – Delta state, Nigeria.

Special Guests of Honour at the event shall also include Hon. Festus Keyamo – Minister of State for Labour, Hon. Amos Magaji – member, Federal House of Representives, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba – Minister of State for Education and Dr. Bashir Jamoh, the Executive Director of NIMASA.

It would be recalled that the current executives of ASSP led by her Nigeria Chapter President, Mrs. Mercy Omoifo-Irefo, have engaged in fostering safety awareness and consciousness in the country in recent times including; initiating, encouraging and vigorously pursuing the legislation at both the Federal and States’ level of the inclusion of SAFETY as a subject in school curriculum nationwide; safety publications, journals, and seminars; safety education and training; career support and mentoring; the etablishment of the first e-library on safety; encouraging a synergy between ASSP and Federal, States parastatals and corporate organisations, on workplace safety, among others.
