The Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU), has rescinded its acceptance of the Federal Government offer on its nationwide strike action.

BIGPENNGR.COM reports the latest development followed the federal government alleged moves to commence payment of lecturers outstanding salaries using the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) platform.

ASUU had in its last communication stated that it has began elaborate consultation with its members across 70 branches to either call-off the strike or not.

BIGPENNGR.COM reports this is coming a day after the Federal Government succumbed to ASUU demands, offering an cumulative N65 billion to enable ASUU to address earned academic allowances and revitalisation of universities.
Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, had disclosed the mouth-watering offer after meeting with leadership of striking lecturers in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
However, ASUU in a tweet on its official Twitter Account, Official__ASUU @ASUUNGR, on Friday night said that it has “shifted ground on FG’s offer”.

“The Union insisted that payment of outstanding salaries must not be done as through IPPIS platform as promised, if strike would be suspended”.
