JUST IN: Three Reportedly Killed, Many Injured In Enugu As Soldiers, Police Open Fire On COVID-19 Palliative Looters

At least three persons have been reportedly killed, others injured at Queens Girls Secondary School at Ogui New Layout in Enugu North Local Government Areas of the state, as soldiers, anti-riot policemen tried to dispersed a surging crowd of residents who invaded a COVID-19 palliative warehouse in the state.

BIGPEN understands the state government deployed soldiers and policemen including a Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) to man the warehouse following speculations that a notice was spread on the social media for residents to gathered on Saturday morning to have their share of COVID-19 palliatives.

A source said that the security personnel at the warehouse allegedly opened fire on the crowd which surge the place in droves, some brandishing clubs and machetes.

An eyewitness, who gave his name Onyekachi Eze, disclosed that three people were shot dead while many were injured.

“I think the soldiers started shooting when the crowd became much and started putting barricade and making bonfires in all the roads leading to the Ogui New Layout.”

Recalls several warehouses where COVID-19 palliatives are stored have been looted nationwide allegedly by hoodlums who took advantage of #EndSARS protest.
