MultiChoice Nigeria, owners of DSTV and GOTV has confirmed that it systems have some glitches and currently undergoing maintenance.

This comes as Anonymous, a decentralized international activist/hacktivist collective/movement that is widely known for its various cyber attacks, claimed responsibility for the technical problems in DSTv and GOTv systems.

BIGPEN reports that several channels of both DSTv and GOtv that were hitherto reserved for a premium bouquet were available for viewership without subscription.

However, Multichoice Nigeria, in a post made on its twitter handle, said that its services are currently offline but for the purpose of upgrading its systems.

They said that the upgrade which commenced 17th, October at 11:pm, is expected to last till 19th, October, 2020 at 4: pm.

It, however, said that all self-service platform are not available this period.

A source from Multichoice who preferred anonymity said the company decided to open all of its channels because the firm was upgrading its system. “We don’t want our subscribers to go through challenges, that is why we open all channels till we complete the upgrade.

“We had informed our subscribers of this upgrade earlier last week”, the source added.

But several Nigerians on Twitter still believed their system was hacked, saying that MultiChioce can never offer its bouquet for free because of system upgrade.

Anonymous, in a twitter claimed that it hacked both DSTv and GOTv as part of its #EndSARS solidarity campaign.

The hacktivist said, “Websites will continue to go down and leaks will continue to pour, the Nigerian government falls short in cyberspace. They don’t fear ‘Anonymous’ they fear the youth and overall they fear a united Nigeria that exists in the streets and beyond hashtags. That’s the power. #EndSARS
