EndSARS Protest: Snatched Police AK-47 Rifle Recovered In Delta

The missing AK47 rifle belonging to the late Corporal Stanley Etaga who was reportedly killed during the End SARS Protest in Ughelli, Delta state, has been recovered.

BIGPEN learnt that police officers attached the Ughelli ‘A’ Division recovered the weapon on Thursday evening.

The gun with serial number 56-2609008 with 25 round of ammunition, was reportedly snatched by hoodlums who hijacked the protest, attacked the policeman who was later clubbed to death.

Police source who preferred anonymity disclosed that the gun was discovered in a bush following intelligence information from an anonymous.

According to the source, “the gun was recovered, after 22 rounds of ammunition had already been expended from it.

“It was wrapped in a black polythene bag with only three rounds of live ammunition left in the magazine,” the source added.

It would be recalled that the Ughelli North Local government Chairman, Hon Godwin Adode, in a security meeting, had tasked leaders within and around Ughelli to produce the weapon or face the consequences.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Onome Onowakpoyeya was not immediately available to confirm the recovery of the gun as of the time of filling this report, but a senior police source from the Ughelli Police Area Command confirmed it.
