Some yet-to-be identified thugs have descended on Nigerians protesting against police brutality in Abuja, Nigeria capital.

The thugs, who were armed with cutlasses, invaded the protest venue at Berger junction about an hour after the #EndSARS protesters had convened.

They harassed the protesters, including passers-by, destroying vehicles parked in the area.

At least five cars were destroyed at the scene, while an unconfirmed number of the protesters sustained injuries.

One of the protesters said; “They are turning this into war by hiring Thugs to attack protesters at Berger but they can’t stop us. Just look at. Please Retweet so the world see what the Nigerian govt are doing”.

Aisha Yesufu, a socio-political activist would later tweet that the attackers were mobilised and paid N1,500 to disrupt the #EndSARS movement.

Yesufu, a co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement, an advocacy group that brings attention to the abduction of over 200 girls, from a secondary school in ChibokNigeria, on 14 April 2014, said that the unrelenting protesters were able to chased the invaders away despite that some of them were seriously wounded.
