Police Arrests Another General Overseer For Rape In Akwa Ibom

The Police in Akwa Ibom Command, has arrested a Prophet and General Overseer of “The Living Power of Zion Church”, situated at Ndue Eduo, Okon Eket, Eket L.G.A of the state for alleged rape and sexual violence.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal who confirmed the development on Thursday, in a statement by the Police Public Relation Officer, CSP N-Nuduam K. Fredrick, said that the clergy, one Prophet Nnamso Friday Jocab was arrested for allegedly raping a 16-yr-old girl.

BIGPEN understands the arrest of the 35 years old suspect came barely 24 hours after the command had showcased its achievements in the fight against rape, defilement and other sexual violence.

According to the statement, “investigation revealed that the victim previously visited the so-called Prophet and General Overseer of “The Living Power of Zion Church”, situates at Ndue Eduo, Okon Eket, Eket L.G.A for counseling and deliverance, but was given an appointment by the suspect to report back on 23rd June, 2020 for “spiritual adoption”.

Consequent upon the appointment, the victim visited the prophet on the scheduled date.

However, while she was in the prophet’s counseling room; the suspect administered an intoxicating liquid substance to the victim, and thereafter took advantage of the victim and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her”.

The Commissioner of Police is miffed at this barbaric act and had warned sexual predators to desist forthwith or continue to face the wrath of the law.
