Lagos, Delta Lead In New 594 COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria

Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Nigeria on Thursday jumped a bit higher with 594 new cases. Lagos and Delta states are taking the lead position in the new cases recorded on June 25, 2020.

While Lagos, adjudged as the epicenter of the virus in the country had 159 cases as against 250 a day before, (now 9,482 in total) Delta had 106 cases against 40 in the previous day, bringing a total of 715 cases in the state.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the country also recorded 7 deaths on Thursday against Nine (9) deaths that were recorded in the last 48 hours in seven (7) states including Delta (2), Nasarawa (2), Bauchi (1), Bayelsa (1), Gombe (1), Ogun (1) and Plateau (1).

The 594 new cases are reported from 22 states.

According to NCDC figures released this night, Lagos had 159, Delta 106, Ondo 44, FCT 34, Edo 34, Oyo 33, Kaduna 33 Enugu 28, Katsina 25, while Imo had 22 cases.

Other states such as Adamawa, Ogun, Osun, Abia had 15, 12, 11, 8 respectively while Rivers had 6, Nasarawa, Bauchi, Niger had 5 cases each Kebbi had 4, Ekiti 3 while Plateau and Taraba had one each.

It would be recalled that as of Wednesday, Nigeria recorded additional Six hundred and forty-nine (649) confirmed cases from twenty-two (22) states.

In the last 48 hours, two hundred and seventy-five (275) cases were discharged in seventeen (17) states.

The agency said that, so far, Nigeria had gotten 22, 614 cases of the virus, 7,822 recoveries cases and 549 deaths recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
