A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Wednesday, struck out a suit seeking to bar Governor Godwin Obaseki from contesting the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary.

The suit brought by an aggrieved PDP aspirant in Edo State, was taken down after all parties in the case agreed to an out-of-court settlement and withdrew the matter.

Justice Emmanuel Obile who had earlier granted a motion ex parte sought by the plaintiff, on Wednesday afternoon stood down the suit after the plaintiff’s lead counsel, D. C. Denwigwe (SAN), filed an oral application to withdrew the suit on the grounds that all parties had settled amicably.

BIGPEN reports that the court granted the application sought by the plaintiff’s counsel without any objections from defense counsel.

This comes after the plaintiff, Hon Omoregie Ogbeide Ihama, an incumbent member representing Oredo Federal Constituency, had agreed to settlement terms and subsequently stepped down for Governor Godwin Obaseki in the coming Peoples Democratic Party’s primary.
