Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, has landed Benin, the state capital from Abuja where he met with top echelon of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in preparation for his joining the party ahead of September governorship poll.

BIGPEN understands Governor Obaseki had on Thursday met with the National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus as well as Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Nyesom Wike (Rivers) and other top PDP leaders in Abuja.

The governor arrived Benin Friday evening after the meeting which was packaged to discuss how he can have a smooth entering into the PDP following his Monday resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), three days after, the party’s screening committee disqualified him from partaking in its primaries over purported discrepancy in his academic qualification.

Obaseki is expected to officially declare his membership of the PDP on Saturday.
