Obaseki Names Ohonbamu’s Replacement With ‘Immediate Effect’
Governor Godwin Obaseki, has appointed with “immediate effort” Mr. Stewart Efe as Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, few hours after erstwhile holder of the position, Mr. Paul Ohonbamu tendered his resignation letter.
The appointment was contained in a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq. on Thursday.
“The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has approved the appointment of Mr. Stewart Efe as Commissioner for Communication and Orientation. His appointment takes immediate effect,” the letter reads.
Mr. Efe, until his appointment was the Public Relations Officer, Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Uselu, Benin City.
He hails from Ward 9, Egor Local Government Area (LGA) in Edo State.
He was a top contender as Chairman, Egor LGA, in the last local council elections, but stepped down for party interest.
Ohonbamu, had in his letter of resignation said that he had resigned for the general good of Edo state ànd pursuit of happiness for citizens”. He thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve in his government.
“I hereby tender my letter of resignation as a commissioner in Edo state this 4th day of June.
“I have decided to step aside as a cabinet member and operate outside it for the general good of Edo state. I remain eternally grateful to His Excellency, the governor for including me in his purposeful and sophisticated administration.
“Whether we shall meet again I know not, therefore our everlasting farewell take. If we do meet why we shall smile, if not it is true this parting was well made”, he wrote.
The resignation comes two weeks to the APC primary and month after the chief of staff to governor, Mr Taiwo Akherele had resigned.
