BREAKING: Obaseki Meets Buhari Over ‘Hurdles Posed On His Way To Re-election’ By Oshiomhole

Edo state Governor, Godwin Obasaki on Monday met President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed doors at the presidential villa.
The visit is coming ahead of the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, scheduled for this month.
From all indication, Obaseki’s visit to Buhari is to call for a quick help in quelling the feud between himself and the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, which might cost the Edo State governor a second term ticket, report says.
Oshiomhole is thought to favour former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for the APC ticket.
BIGPEN reports that last week, Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) had announced that direct primary will be adopted for the Edo APC shadow poll. This development had been long countered and resisted by a faction of the APC in Edo loyal to Obaseki.
However, when Obasaki briefed State House Correspondents on the purpose of his visit, he said, even though President Buhari is a father, it will be wrong to assume or take things for granted so ‘I have to formally inform him of my ambition’.
The governor added that over 300,000 of the Edo indigenes have been screen for COVID-19 out of the 500,000 targets set by the government.
This is even as he has vowed to ensure the killers of the 100-level student of the University of Benin, Uwaila Omozuwa, are tracked and brought to justice, describing the crime as heinous.
