‘No Fear Of Coronavirus In ITV Benin Over Edo Deputy Governor’s Visit’ – Management

The Management of Independent Television and Radio has debunked publication in the social media credited to one John Mayaki that the management and staff of ITV/Radio are nursing fears of a possible spread of the coronavirus disease following the hosting on Friday, 8th of May 2020 of Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, in two of the station popular breakfast shows on television and radio.
The programmes are Good Morning From Benin on Television and Man Around Town on Radio.
Senior Elder Ogbeide Uwumwonse, General Manager, ITV, in a statement on Sunday, said the “Management of Independent Television does not only see this allegation and unnecessary alarm as frivolous, unfounded and baseless but one orchestrated by mischief makers to cause disaffection among staff of this noble media house and also to cause acrimony between ITV/Radio and Edo State Government.
ITV/Radio has since confirmed from the Deputy Governor, the World Health Organisation Co-ordinator in Edo State, Mrs Faith Ireye and the Edo State NCDC Team Lead, Doctor Eze that there is no iota of truth in the social media account that the Deputy Governor is corvid-19 positive.
His visit to ITV/Radio has therefore not spread the virus.
The Management and staff of ITV/RADIO are safe from the Coronavirus disease as we have continued to religiously adhere to all safety measures put in place in compliance with the World Health Organisation, the Federal and State Governments in the fight against the pandemic and its spread.
ITV/Radio is by this release advising the said John Mayaki to desist from such unfounded claims and stop dragging the name of Independent Television and Radio into any political tussle as the station is apolitical and will remain so in the discharge of its responsibilities to nation building.
We advise members of the public, our numerous viewers on television, listeners on radio and our numerous clients all over the world to disregard the social media content credited to John Mayaki”.
