Nigeria In Another COVID-19 Upsurge After Buhari’s Address – 195 Test Positive

Nigeria has rake in another highest daily cases of people who has tested positive to the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the country.
In the daily record released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Tuesday night, the country has 195 new cases of COVID-19 across 15 states including the Federal Capital Territory.
BIGPEN reports that this new upsurge is coming barely a day after President Muhammadu Buhari , in a state broadcast announced a ‘gradual and phased’ easing of the more than four weeks lockdown in Lagos, Ogun states and Abuja, the nation’s capital starting from May 4.
Some states have also announced partial relaxation of curfew and lockdown imposed as measures to contain the spread of the virus.
However, there appear to be upsurge of the virus in Lagos, Ogun, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Sokoto and Kano which was totally lock down a day ago by President Buhari following cases of ‘strange death and ailments’.
Besides Edo state, other states in the South-south and South-East have a low profile of the spread of the infection.
The figures given by NCDC on Tuesday are as follow: 80-Lagos, 38-Kano, 15-Ogun, 15-Bauchi, 11-Borno, 10-Gombe, 9-Sokoto, 5-Edo, 5-Jigawa, 2-Zamfara, 1-Rivers, 1-Enugu, 1-Delta, 1-FCT, 1-Nasarawa.
So far, the total cases have increased to 1532 with 255 previously infected patients treated and discharged and 44 deaths.
One case previously reported in Gombe State is now recorded as a Borno State case, this brings the total number of cases in Borno to 53 and 46 in Gombe.
