UPDATED: Nigeria’s COVID-19 Infections Surge Past 1000 – Lagos, Gombe, Others Bring In 114 Fresh Cases

Nigeria’s coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, has climbed over 1000 with a record 114 new cases added to the previous confirmed cases, bringing the total nationwide figures to 1095.
Lagos, the epicentre of the virus outbreak has 80 new cases, followed by Gombe State which has 21 fresh cases recorded from one day test results.
The breakdown of the new cases are as follow:
80 in Lagos, 21 in Gombe, 5 in FCT, 2 in Zamfara, 2 in Edo, 1 in Ogun, 1 in Oyo, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Sokoto.
So far, Nigeria has discharged 208 previously infected patients and recorded 32 death as at 11:30 pm 24th April.
The country’s Centre for Disease Control (CDC), which confirmed the figures Friday night in its twitter handle, said Nigeria has recorded COVID-19 confirmed cases in 27 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
In the last 24 hours, number of new cases increased by 114. Number of deaths increased by 1.
While 5 cases previously recorded in Lagos, are now recorded as Ogun state cases, NCDC tweeted.
