Governor’s Aide Suspected To Be Robbery Gang Member Escaped Police Arrest

A governor’s aide suspected to be a ring leader of a robbery gang has reportedly escaped police arrest after police from Delta state swooped on their hideout, BIGPEN has learnt.
It was learnt that when the police later raided the home of the suspect, several pictures of him and the governor who is of the South-South region were reportedly seen and taken away as exhibit.
Meanwhile, another member of the gang who specialized in high profile robbery and kidnapping met his waterloo and was arrested and detained by the police in Delta.
The sting operation for the arrest of the 32 years old male kingpin simply identified as Philip Mike Mishan, popularly known as ‘Cele’, was led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ekpan Division, SP Asanaenyi Ibok.
The suspect was allegedly fingered to be involved in series of violent robbery cases in the state since 2010 till date and killing of policemen.
A police source who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the operational methods of the gang changed in the last two years after the ring leader escaped arrest and relocated to Ozoro, his hometown in Isoko North Local Government Area from where he moves to Alegbo area for operations.
Two (2) AK 47 rifles, with 5 rounds of magazines and one hundred and forty rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspect.
Delta Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect would be charged to court after preliminary investigation.
Inuwa said that the arrest of one of the kingpin was a major breakthrough in the fight against crime in the state.
CP Inuwa said, “We arrested someone with AK47, Ak49 with 150 rounds of ammunition in Ekpan area.”
