Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has approved the appointment of Mr. Monday Uwagwu as the General Manager of the Delta Printing and Publishing Company Limited (DPPCL), publishers of The Pointer title.
Uwagwu, until his new appointment was the Editor-in-chief of the state newspaper outfit.
Recalls that the state commissioner for Information, Patrick Ukah, who was accused of aiding a sit-tight Bosah Iwobi, the former GM, had deployed Mr. Celestine Ofuani, a deputy Director of Information (DDI) in charge of newsroom and operations in the state Ministry of Information to Pointer sometimes last year.
BIGPEN ONLINE gathered that Ofuani’s deployment came on the backdrop of the protest by staff of the establishment who had called on Governor Okowa to appoint a personnel from POINTER to replace Mr. Bosah Iwobi who has since retired from the company.
It was learnt that Ofuani is expected to leave in June for Uwagwu who has already received his appointment letter as substantive General Manager of the newspaper outfit.
The governor has also appointed Pastor Malcolm Oteri as Acting General Manager of the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri.
Oteri is taking over from estranged General Manager of DBS Warri, Tunde Igrammar Omonode who was petitioned to the state Assembly and currently being investigated.
Until his appointment, Oteri was the Deputy General Manager, News and Current Affairs department of the Delta Broadcasting Service Warri.
Omonode is said to have been redeployed to the state ministry of information.
