A security expert, Mr. Momodu Oshiomouno Braimah has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to declare a national public holiday for the purpose of mopping up all illegal arms in circulation in the country.

He spoke against the worrisome rate of Fulani herdsmen killings across the country and Boko Haram insurgency in the North East.

Momodu, in a chat with BIGPEN ONLINE said that the federal government was not doing enough to curb the menace of Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram insurgency in the country, lamenting that daily killings in Nigeria now spreading like wildfire.

He said that the number of illegal arms in the hands of unauthorized individuals are more than the one being used by security agencies, stressing that it has become expedient for the federal government to carry out a nationwide surrendering of fire arms by unlicensed users.

The security expert also call for formations of civilian JTF around communities particularly in the Niger Delta region which according to him has been grossly infiltrated by Fulani herdsmen and mercenaries masquerading as manual job seekers.

He also called on traditional rulers to collaborate with security agencies to fish out strange faces in their communities that could constitute threat to them.
