Group Calls On Buhari To Enforce Implementation Of Local Content Law

The group, Isoko Nation Youth Congress (INYC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on multinational companies operating in Delta State and Isoko in particular for proper implementations of Nigeria’s Local Content Law.
In an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, personally singed by its President, Engr Godstime Oghenero Akokotu, the group queried the oil companies operating in Isoko region for totally disregarding the Local Content law by their deliberate refusal to patronise local contractors, entrepreneurs, and host communities, particularly those within the youth bracket.
The youth group said since the enactment of Local Content law, it has never be fully implemented in Isoko thereby leading to worsen poverty level and unbearable unemployment situation.
“Apart from Oloibiri were oil was first discovered in 1956, Isoko is the second place were oil was found , we cannot continue with this brazen abandonment and lack of development in Isoko communities by oil companies operating in Isoko while their cooperate headquarters are sited in Lagos.
“Multinational oil companies operating in Isoko are giving their major contracts to key players in the oil industries who are non indigenes, more so recruitment into the companies senior administrative cadre are carried out in Lagos. You cannot continued to use Isoko’s assets to feed only the Federal government and other states. Isoko people are peace loving people but our peaceful disposition should not be taken for granted.
The group therefore call on government at all levels, cooperate bodies, critical stakeholders and well meaning Nigerians to prevail on multinational oil companies operating in Isoko to urgently implement policies that will not only develop the Isoko Nation but employ her teeming youths.
