Ogboru Files Petition Against Okowa’s Election

The 2019 governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Delta State, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru has filed petition challenging the declaration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as winner of the 2019 governorship election.

Ogboru who earlier rejected the result of the March 9 polls, alleging rigging had vowed to contest the outcome of the election in court.

Confirming the receipt of Ogboru’s petition and others, the Delta State Election Petitions Tribunal Secretary, Barr Ahmed Gusau in a chat with journalists in Asaba, disclosed that so far a total of 51 petitions arising from the 2019 National Assembly, Governorship and State House of Assembly elections have been received.

Among the petitions, he said, one was filed against the State Governor-elect, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, by Chief Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who was his major opponent in the election.

According to him, four other petitions were filed for the senatorial election, two against Senator James Manager of the PDP, one against Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC and one against Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.

Mr. Gusau also disclosed that nine petitions were filed for the House of Representatives election, while 37 came from House of Assembly candidates against the winners of the election.
