Delta Assembly Passes N390.3B 2019 Appropriation Bill
…Also N27.5B 2018 Supplementary Budget
The Delta State House of Assembly has passed into law both the 2018 supplementary budget and 2019 appropriation bill forwarded to the house by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
With the passage of the supplementary appropriation bill pegged at N27.585 billion, the 2018 budget size which originally stood at N308.888 billion is now at N336.474 billion.
The amendment bill and the 2019 appropriation bill were passed during the Tuesday, December 11, 2018, planary of the House presided over by Speaker, Rt. Honestly Sherrif Oborevwori.
The amended recurrent expenditure is from N147.273 billion to N164.011 billion while amended Capital Expenditure is from N161.614 billion to N172.462 billion.
The bill as presented and passed according to the Majority Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere, is aimed at supplementing and reordering specific subheads of the recurrent revenue, personnel cost, overhead coast, consolidated revenue fund charges and capital expenditure.
Meanwhile, the passage of the 2019 Appropriation bill followed the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations led by Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu.
She said the governor had on October 17, 2018 presented the 2019 proposed budget of N367 billion to he House with N209 billion for capital expenditure while recurrent expenditure had N157 billion.
According to her, after careful evaluation of the submissions of the various sub Committees of the House after the budget defence of Ministries, Departments and Agencies the Finance and Appropriations had to return a budget size of N390.3 billion.
Hon. Ibori-Suenu said with the increase of the budget size, the capital expenditure now stood at N233.2 billion, while the recurrent expenditure was now N157.1 billion.
