Delta Govt Blasts Uduaghan Over Plot To Drag Okowa Into ‘His Dwindling Political Fortune’

The Delta State Government has reacted to the recent interview by immediate past Governor of State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, saying the former governor should stop dragging Governor Ifeanyi Okowa into his dwindling political fortune.

State Information Commissioner, Mr Patrick Ukah who addressed newsmen in Asaba on Tuesday challenged Uduaghan to tell the world about the legacy projects he claimed to have left behind which Okowa led government has destroyed.

Ukah, quoted Uduaghan to have said during the programme that the present administration of Okowa was on a “vindictive mission to bulldoze his legacies as governor”.

According to him, “It is not the style of the Okowa led-government to respond to fallacious claims but we owe the public the duty to set the record straight particularly when such lies are spilled by a former governor who this administration has given due respect.

“By his conduct and utterances, Dr Uduaghan needs to do more to convince Deltans that his desperate desire to become a senator should not make him feed the general public with lies about a non-existent legacy projects,” Mr Ukah said.

“The free health care programme provided by the administration of Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan’s had a budget of about N700 million yearly for free health care in urban cities and secondary health facilities only, adding that no primary health care facility in rural communities where the real people that need the free health care the most are.

According to the Commissioner, the past administration’s health care programme which he banked on, had no proper records of people that actually received the free health care service and was limited and had no provision for referral of serious cases.

He revealed that this administration now register all the people and had proper records of those that receive the service and had also extended to rural communities PHCs where the real people that needed it reside.

Mr Ukah said that the service had also been extended to children under 05 years and where pregnant women in Delta State receive full healthcare service with referral for serious cases, drugs with materials required to provide service are available in these facilities all the time under the contributory health scheme.

“Since the recent defection of Dr Uduaghan to the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the PDP where he was bred and fed, the State is inundated with both clandestine and visible plot to drag the Governor Okowa led administration into his dwindling political fortune just to deceive the public and possibly score cheap political point”

Continuing, the information commissioner said: “It is indeed amazing that the same Uduaghan who a few months ago endorsed Governor Okowa for a second term on account of his sterling performances in spite of the downturn in the economy, displayed lack of integrity when he stylishly dodged the question on the performances of Governor Okowa while on the Channels TV, ‘Hard Copy’ Programme.

“A man who could not summon courage to vie for a Senatorial election as a sitting Governor is here boasting about leading a failed mission to unseat a hardworking Governor Okowa who is committed to cleaning up the mess he, Dr Uduaghan left behind in his uneventful and sad era as governor.”

He assured Dr Uduaghan and what he called ‘his new found political family’ that Deltans were quite impressed with the developmental efforts of the PDP in Delta State as led by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and were prepared once more to return him for a second term come 2019 and to assured him and his cohorts that their plots and boasts of a takeover of Delta State could remain an exercise in futility.
