APC’s Kayode Fayemi Wins Ekiti Governorship Election (Video)

The candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, Dr John Olukayode Fayemi has won the 2018 Ekiti governorship election.
Fayemi, a Minister of Mines and Steel Development in Nigeria was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire on Sunday, July 15.
The returning officer of the election and vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka made the announcement at the INEC collation centre in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital
Fayemi defeated the current Deputy Governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kolapo Olusola, in 12 Local Government Areas.
According to Professor Olayinka, Fayemi defeated the current Deputy Governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kolapo Olusola, in 12 LGAs.
“That John OluKayode Fayemi of APC having fulfilled requirements of the law and got the highest votes is the winner and is returned elected”, Professor Olayinka said.
According to ALEDEH report, the former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, garnered 197,459 while Olusola polled 178,114 vote.
