Reggae Star, Ras Kimono Dies At 60
Reggae icon, Ukeleke Onwubuya, popularly known as ‘Ras Kimono’, is dead.
He was reported to have passed away Sunday morning at a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos.
The “Under pressure” crooner was scheduled to travel to United States Saturday night, but had complained of not feeling too well, family source said.
Reports say he was rushed to a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, then later taken to Lagoon Hospital in the Island where later died.
Music veterans, Tony Okoroji and Sir Shina Peters have confirmed his death.
President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Mr Pretty Okafor, expressed shock over the sudden death of Kimono. He described his death as a “big loss to the music industry”.
The 60 years legendary star who hails from Delta North part of Delta State was last seen in Asaba, when the State Chapter of PMAN led by its Chairman, Mr. Tebite Quincy paid a courtesy visit on governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Hard Reporters had earlier reported.
