JUST IN: Police Invites Senate President, Saraki Over Offa Bank Robbery Incident

The Nigeria Police Force has invited the Senate President, Bukola Saraki in connection with the robbery which occurred in Offa, Kwara State.

According to Channels TV report, this was after the Senate President was mentioned by five of the suspects who confessed to the crime.

Five gang leaders indicted Saraki after they made a confession that they were political thugs of both the Senate President and Abdulfatah Ahmed, Governor of Kwara State.

The Spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, Jimoh Moshood, in a statement on Sunday said the bank robbery led to the death of 33 persons including some pregnant women and good police officers.

The police statement read in part; “The Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki is being invited by the Nigeria Police Force to report to the Force Intelligence Response Team office at Guzape, Abuja to answer to the allegations levelled against him from the confessions of the Five (5) Gang Leaders and some of the other 17 suspects arrested for direct involvement and active participation in the Offa Bank Robbery and the gruesome killing of 33 innocent persons which includes some pregnant women and nine Police personnel”.

The five gang leaders made more confession that they are political thugs under the name Youth Liberation Movement a.k.a “Good Boys” and were sponsored with arms, money andvehicles by the Senate President Saraki and the Governor of Kwara State.

Again, they also confessed that rifles belonging to the Nigeria Police Force in the Armoury of the Police Divisional Headquarters, Offa were carted away.

The police noted that the arrest was made after the arrest of two principal suspects.

“The arrests of the five gang leaders and 17 others were made possible after the arrest of two principal suspects (Kunle Ogunleye aka Arrow 35yrs and Michael Adikwu an Ex-Convict) whose pictures captured by CCTV in one of the Banks during the Banks robbery were circulated to the media and the public. The two principal suspects confessed to be among the suspects led by the five gang leaders to carry out the Offa Banks Robbery, the attack on the Divisional Police Headquarters, Offa and the killings of 33 innocent persons on the 5th of April, 2018.

“During interrogation, the five gang leaders further confessed and volunteered statements that they carried out the bank robberies, the attack on the Divisional Police Headquarters in Offa and the killings,” the statement read further.
