Gunmen Shoot Delta APC Chairmanship Aspirant, Silas Buowe

Unknown gunmen has reportedly shot a Chairmanship aspirant of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State, Mr. Silas Buowe in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Council Area in alleged failed assassination attempt.

BigPen Online learnt that Buowe, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, was shot in a close-range on his stomach along Emiye road, Oleh.

The former lawmaker was said to have gone to Forest Holiday Hotel area in Emiye road to cut his hair when the gunmen suspected to be hired assassins waylaid him and open fire on his vehicle.

A relative of Buowe told BigPen Online on Thursday that the aspirant who has large APC followers in the state, was blocked by the gun wielding assailants who intercepted and shattered his car with bullets on Wednesday.

Our source said; “He went to Forest Holiday Hotel area to cut his hair when they attack him. After the hair cut, just as he was about leaving with his car, one Jetta car blocked him and open fire on him.

“Because of the closeness of the assailant who pulled the trigger, the bullet hit him on the stomach and pierced through his back”.

BigPen Online learnt that Buowe who was later rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Warri, is currently in critical condition with doctors battling to save his life.

Our source said that he was operated upon on Thursday morning by doctors to extract bullet from his body and treat the other fractions sustained from the gun shot.

A medical doctor who spoke to our correspondent under condition of anonymity, said he sustained some fractions and some of his intestines were affected by the bullet.

Buowe, represented Isoko South Constituency II in the state House of Assembly from 2003 to 2007. He officially registered his membership with the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) in November 2016 at his country home Umeh, and was later received into the APC fold around March 2017.

Buowa, who was the Financial Director of the Mainstream Delta APC before joining the APC chairmanship race is the founder of Faith Teaching Bible Church.

He is said to be a leading contestant for the Chairmanship position in the forthcoming APC’s State Congress, where new members of the State Executive Committee will emerge.
