Fire brand Niger Delta activist, Chief Godspower Gbenekama is set to join the Warri Federal Constituency race ahead of 2019 general election.

Already, a group comprises of Ijaw and Itsekiri have started wide mobilization for his candidacy.

Though, Gbenekama was yet to declare his interest, the group said that something is about to happen in Warri Federal Constituency with Gbenekama agreeing to join the race.

“A wind of renewal is coming from every corner in Warri Federal which will breathe new life into our politics, the group which styled itself Ijaw, Itsekiri Youth Forum (IIYF), said on Wednesday.

In a statement made available to BigPen Online, the group said that the whole of Warri Federal and Warri South West Local Government Area are clamouring for positive representation at the green chambers which Gbenekama fits into.

They said that the people of the constituency deserved better representation from what they currently have, maintaining, “too many families can’t make ends meet, too many aged ones are living in poverty, that they have had enough of the same old debates.

“They deserve better, that is why we should dare to bring about this transformation. The transformation that is now necessary because Warri Federal Constituency is running in circles.Because for too long, we have replaced scandals with different scandals, scandals that the people of Warri Federal could not tolerate anymore.

“Because some want to benefit from divisive politics. Because issues that matter to most Warri Federal are yet to be settled.

“You have voted for a green economy, but still, your money is used to subsidize big polluters. You have rejected scandals that tarnished politics, but again we see the same story; different leaders, same old scandals. For all these reasons, you believe it is now time for change.

According to them, Warri Federal and Deltans are ready for the transformation that would come through Gbenekama’s representation, saying, “enough is enough” for re-circling of people who have failed to tackle problems of Warri Federal Constituency.

The group noted that the duty of a good representative is to attract presence of government to her people and not to work with the ‘big corporation’ to continue the economic oppression of the people.

“Build bridges between urban and rural areas and bring closer the different point of views which exist in this country. A Federal House member must ensure House of Representatives represents the values you cherish.

“We need to replace them and it is not the first time for Warri Federal people as a whole to bring about major changes in our society. This isn’t the first time you’ve seen this. It means something is broken and we need to fix it.

“The time has come for someone to take on those responsibilities. Chief Godspower Gbenekama is ready to take on this challenge! It can’t be done without you. Let’s work together with Chief Godspower Gbenekama. Let’s roll up our sleeves and start the work right now”.
