Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has dismissed reports that he cleared the bills for the medical treatment of the president’s son, Yusuf Buhari.

Yusuf was flown abroad for further treatment after he and his friend, Bashir Gwandu, were severely injured along Gwarimpa road in Abuja on December 26, 2017.

Yusuf, who returned to the country last week, was initially admitted at Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja.

Reports quoting a source at the Presidency had alleged that Kachikwu has been the one funding the medical bills and other logistics of Mr Yusuf and those that traveled with him to an undisclosed German hospital.

The reports alleged that over $200,000.00 was spent in Germany by Ibe Kachikwu who volunteered to fund the medical trip of Mr Yusuf to Germany.

But reacting to news that he funded the cost of the foreign trip and treatment, Kachikwu maintained his detractors were behind the claim.

He said it was the same persons who have been saying that he had intention to run for governor in his home state, Delta that was behind the rumour.

“When you add these developments together, then you can see my stand that it is pointless debating with people, who delight in lowly fantasy. They cannot transcend the unfortunate stations of pulling others down”, he told Thisday.
