2019: Okowa Won’t Anoint Any Candidate For Delta PDP Primaries In August – Omimi

The Political Adviser to Delta state Governor, Omimi Esquire, has said that the Governor has no preferred candidate for PDP Primaries coming up in August, 2018.
He spoke following rumours making the round that the Governor Okowa had anointed some persons as candidate of the party for various positions across the state.
Omimi Esquire, said that the large turn out of supporters of some aspirants at a political function held recently at Ozoro does not in anyway add up to fears that the Governor may be under pressure to support particular persons during the August primaries of the party.
“l want to assure all party members that the Governor Okowa that l know is a democrat who discourages imposition of Candidates and so all aspirants should rest assured that there will be a level playing field for them during the primaries scheduled for August and let me assure you that the Governor has no preferred Candidate”.
On the wide acceptance of Governor Okowa as evidenced by his adoption by the three senatorial districts chapter of the PDP as sole Candidate of the party in the 2019 governorship elections, Omimi Esquire said it showed that the Governor leadership style had impacted on the people through his “SMART” agenda and “Prosperity for All Deltans” as can be seen in the unprecedented provision of infrastructure.
On the ruling APC’s extension of the tenure of the NWC and States Excos by a year, the Political Adviser described it as “laughable” and an indication that the party, “made up of strange bedfellows”, can not conduct a convention.
He therefore advised them to borrow a leaf from PDP which has, in spite of previous leadership challenges, was able to forge ahead and conduct both non elective and elective national conventions steered by Governor Okowa who was Chairman of the planning Committee of both successful events.
