BREAKING! Fire Guts National Assembly, Lawmakers Stranded

The main building of National Assembly housing the House of Representative and Senate Complex is on fire.

The fire started from the Technical Department of the National Assembly.

As at press time, the Senate was unable to commence sitting as smoke from the fire has taken over the entrance of the Red Chambers.

However, efforts were on to put off the fire, while senators stood outside waiting for it to subside for plenary to commence.

This is not the first time the department is going on flames, The Eagle Online had reported.

Last year, within the month of February there was fire outbreak at fourth floor of the new building of the Senate wing in the National Assembly.
