Following the exit of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the impending mass exodus of top party members, Prince Matthew Onyebuchi Agu, a chieftain of the party and staunch supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, has come out hard against the former vice president, stating that his plans to unseat President Buhari in 2019 will fail.

Prince Agu stated this while speaking to reporters in Enugu, added that the achievements of President Buhari justifies his divine mandate to lead the country.

He therefore allayed fears that the exit of the former Vice President from the ruling party will pose a threat to the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Buhari has a divine mandate of 8 years from God to fix Nigeria and his victory in 2015 over ex-President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a clear proof that his ascension to power is divine”.

Highlighting the achievements of President Buhari in the area of corruption, Prince Agu praised the president, stating that he saved Nigeria from being eviscerated by corruption adding that this has enable him to move the country towards sustainable progress by ensuring fiscal discipline, accountability and due process.

According to him, these are the reasons why Buhari will win the elections in 2019 and why Atiku will lose.

“Corruption has destroyed the essence of values and ingenuity in Nigeria. creativity and discoveries have also been consigned to the waste basket.

“This has resulted in politics being turned into a money spinning venture, but I think President Buhari has changed all that.

“Evidence abound in the ministries, agencies and parastatals and you will find out that it is no longer business as usual”.

“So to me Buhari has a non-negotiable mandate to rule till 2023 and my worries have been on the process of finding a worthy replacement ostensibly from the Igbo stock after the expiration of his well deserved tenure in 2023.
