Ace Broadcaster with the Delta Rainbow Television, (DRTV) in Warri, Mr.Godspower Omadebor on Wednesday says he would resign voluntarily from the services of the Delta State owned radio and television station if airing his views on the failure of government to revamp the outfit would earn him a query.

Omadebor stated this at a Press Conference marking his birthday bash/15years as a broadcaster in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State.

He said that resigning from the station would enable him become a social critic, analyst as well as criticize very well as an outsider because according to him, “I cannot continue to work unproductively. We have to speak up and not pretend over it.”
BigPen Online reports that Delta Rainbow Television, (DRTV) has become an ailing establishment with stories of equipments failure, theft, corruption and mismanagement trailing operations of the station.

Recently, the station’s General Manager,  Mr. Tunde Omonode reportedly found wanting by a probe panel was corruptly reinstated by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Patrick Ukah.

Addressing newsmen on Wednesday, Omadebor who’s fondly referred to as the “Weapon of Mass Construction” lamented that DRTV does not have microphones and video cameras inspite of the N9billion naira allegedly pumped into the state owned media outfit by former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administration.

According to the popular broadcaster, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had promised to resuscitate the station but till date nothing is working.

He said that the N9billion allegedly pumped into the station has not been accounted for because there is no work done in the broadcast station to justify where the money went into.

While noting that he is not castigating the government or anyone, Omadebor stated that the system is not working.

“Am disillusioned and disappointed at the State owned media. I have concluded arrangements to voluntarily retire because am tired.”

“My conscience is pricking me. I am retiring so that as an outsider, I can criticize very well.”

“I cannot continue to work unproductively. We have to speak up and not pretend over it.”

However,  Omadebor said the job of a social critic is risky especially with politicians who bear arms to frustrate their efforts but vowed to lay his life as a “Sacrificial lamb” for the entertainment industry in Delta State.

Omadebor posited that Deltans have lost the oil and the entertainment industry in Warri.

Speaking further, he said that the entertainment industry under the Okowa’s administration is not being supported and promoted, lamenting that the government patronized people from Lagos to the detriment of entertainers in Delta State particularly in Warri.

He however stated that he and some stakeholders and practitioners in the entertainment industry, have forwarded a bill for Act to establish the Delta State Entertainment Development Agency.

According to him, when established, it will be Government apparatus to coordinate the activities of entertainment industry in the state.

Omadebor stated that Shell Petroleum Development Company,(SPDC) packed out of Warri with about two hundred mini-companies because the people who ought to save the economy pretended and did nothing about it.

He averred that the absence of SPDC led to the drop in the population of Warri, stressing ,”There are vacant apartments in Warri. There is littering population. Warri is no longer an oil city.”

Omadebor however lamented that the entertainment industry which is supposed to save the situation and bring Warri back to its place has been politicized by politicians.
