Group Slams Adesina, Says Reeling Out Graph Of Appointments Has No Impact On Economy
The group, Vanguard for Transparent Leadership and Democracy (VATLAD) has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina for reeling out graph of appointments in face of scourge of hunger, starvation, unemployment and hopelessness facing Nigerians.
In a statement by its National President, Comrade Emmanuel Odafe Igbini on Sunday, the group said that reeling out the number of appointments made so far for whatever reasons has no impact on the economy or infrastructure like roads which are death traps, causing loss of lives to Nigerians on daily and weekly basis.
“Femi Adesina, how have these so-called balanced political appointments by our President Buhari translate to better, happy and prosperous lives for 200 million Nigerians in all the States of Nigeria?
“The Statistics Nigerians want to see from you is that showing positive Changes in our Country for the happiness and peace of mind of all exploited and looted Nigerians”, Igbini said.
According to him, those who argue that the appointments are in favour of the North, can’t even find evidence to show that these appointments have positively changed the North to the extent that there are no longer children on the streets begging for food (almajiris).
Continuing, he also noted, “those who also argued that during the past16 years led by PDP elites from the South of Nigeria, appointments were in favour of southerners yet life in our once bubbling Oil City of Warri is today in state of comatose and our people living in starvation and socio-economic hopelessness?
Igbini however queried; “how can you (Adesina) bring up this kind of argument at this very challenging period of our Nation? A period when hunger, starvation, unemployment and hopelessness are common denominator across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
“When our roads have become death traps causing loss of lives of Nigerians on weekly basis, if not daily? Pregnant women would lose their pregnancies if they travel by road from Warri through Benin/Lokoja to Abuja due to the very deplorable state of the road.
“This sad story is the same all over the country. This systematic damage though started decades ago but right now it got to worst stage and collapsed everything”.
The VATLAD’s boss said that though he wouldn’t hold President Buhari singly responsible for the mess and collapse in infrastructure, his and APC party ‘bogus campaign’ promises made now appear like mere rhetoric dashed out to entertain 200 million Nigerians (voters).
“For me, all what vast majority of Nigerian elites seeking elective offices say during election campaigns are just words to entertain 200 million Nigerians (voters) during such rituals every four years. Nigerians should not expect them to keep to such words”.
