The reign of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State is gradually coming to an end, following the alleged imposition of candidates on the electorates by the party hierarchy.

This is coming just as the members of the party around the state are aggrieved over the alleged imposition of un-preferred candidates on the people throughout the wards and units in the state.

Following the development, youths under the aegis of Ughelli North Youths Vanguard led by Vincent Adjanakpo as Chairman and Ogagaoghene Lloyds, Secretary on Thursday held that Ughelli North PDP is sitting under the keg of gun power as it is about witnessing tsunami of mass defection.

According to them, “Our unprejudiced stand, the subject above is about ridiculing the manifesto of our beloved party and soonest the party is set to fail in the coming elections if not properly handled

“We members of the party, from Agbarha,  Uhweru, Evwreni , Orogun, Ogor, Agbarho clans, in Ughelli North have continued to watch with shock and utter bewilderment the manoeuvres of leaders of our party to superimposed on us the good people of Ughelli North a non-sellable candidate to fly the party’s ticket at January 6th,2018 chairmanship elections against wise counsel of well meaning members.

It would be recalled that UNYV, recently embarked on a peaceful protest alleging the imposition of a non-sellable candidates on the people throughout the entire state and Ughelli North in particular.

“We recalled that various groups in pellucid terms have stated their position on the need for the party to conduct a free and fair primaries which would now produce the flag bearer of the party so that the most popular candidate would emerge.

“Inasmuch as we agree that the party must win the chairmanship and councillorship elections irrespective of who flies their ticket, let’s be mindful of the fact that other elections abound in 2019.

“But the way and manner we choose our candidates would definitely have spiral effect on these elections.

“It is enough to say we have cases of resentment against this Okowa led administration and as foot soldiers of the  party, we have heard people complaints of maladministration but because party they say is supreme, we keep asking them to have patience as the best of Okowa led government is yet to come.

“It is against this background that we where dumbfounded to found out that our party is about to compound our woes and we would not stand by to watch our fortunes slide into misfortune.

“In our candid opinion, this is not the time to gamble with imposition because this is one business that deals with numbers and any attempt to impose any candidate on us would lead us to our own Golgotha.”

They held that the mass resentment presently in the air need not be overemphasized, we need to do the very needful and let winners and losers emerge from  very transparent  primary processes

Appealing to the Delta State governor, they disclosed that the process that have birth political parties candidates over the world is the primaries by using internal democracy as a tool.

“So why are certain, person’s scared of this is entrenched system? It’s obvious that the lazy politicians are afraid of primaries, we make bold to say on primaries we stand.

“We want to also use this medium to call on his Excellency, Executive Governor of Delta State as the number one leader of the Party to call the leaders of Ughelli north to order by doing the needful to avoid tomorrow’s calamity as there would not be any party like PDP in the local government.

“Finally, we call on all men of  goodwill to prevail on the leaders n Elders of Ughelli North to tow the path of righteousness and  justice so that collectively we would have avoided the imminent Doom’s day looming”.
