Okowa Swears In DSIEC Chairman, Others Amid Controversy Over New Electoral Law

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state on Monday sworn in the new Chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC and six other members of the board, amidst controversy over the new electoral law assented to recently by the governor.

The Governor performed the swearing in at the Governor’s Chamber, Government House, Asaba, the state capital.

A group, Delta Stakeholders Group had few days ago faulted the new DSIEC law which was passed by the Delta State House of Assembly.

The group described the law as “bad” , “void” and inconsistent with constitutional provisions.

Meanwhile, those swore in to run the affairs of the commission are:

7. Mrs. Yvonne Ovuevo Wagbatsoma – Member.
