Okowa Meets Ibori, Uduaghan Over Council Polls

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state on Friday met with former governors, Chief James Ibori and Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan over the forthcoming local government election in the state.

BigPen Online learnt that Okowa met both former governors at the country home of Ibori in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.

Sources said that Okowa and Uduaghan were together when they arrived Ibori residence around 10:13am and met the ex-governor behind closed doors.

The meeting, it was learnt may not be far unconnected to Okowa’s resolved to return some incumbent Council Chairmen in the forthcoming elections.

A Government House source had disclosed that the governor wants some incumbent Local government Chairmen believed to be loyal to him return so that they could work in his favor in 2019.

The source said the meeting was to conferred with Ibori and Uduaghan on the “arrangement” so that they could all agreed on the slots.

“The meeting lasted for four hours. It was unconnected to the forthcoming council election. Okowa came in company of Uduaghan and after the formal reception, they went in for a close door meeting.

Our source informed that Okowa told Ibori and Uduaghan to allow him return some incumbent Chairmen in Delta Central, Delta South Senatorial District believed to be his trusted allies.

The source said that at the meeting Ibori may have also settled the incumbent Governor and his predecessor over alleged subtle “cold war” between the duo.
